b'TECH TIP PAGE Tech Tip 30: Fine tuning the balance of your race car is easy with the right strategy &components. Ron loves to fine tune the rear sway bar for mid corner grip & balance. If youhavent thought it out yetsway bars are progressive on corner entryfrom zero rate whenthe car is straightand progressive in rate as the car starts turns inreaching max rate nearmid-corner when the steering gets to 100%. Sway bars are also digressive on corner exit frommax rate back to zero rate as the steering unwinds gradually. The sway bars are one of the few tuning items that affect the mid-corner roll through zone.Need the car to turn better here? Increase therear sway bar rate. Need more grip in the roll through zone?Decrease the rear sway bar rate.Ron designed our rear sway bar with 4 holes, .75 apart instead of 3 holes 1 apart for more fine tuning. Plus you can split holes, providing the RSRT rear sway bar with 7 rates! If the bar Ron specs for you has rates of 161#, 183#, 210# & 244#by splitting the links, youadd 172#, 197# & 227#. This allows you to finetune the Roll Through Zone rear grip for nearperfect neutral, balanced handling.Tech Tip 31: When we run suspension strategies for lower chassis/body roll, the right way isto run a larger sway bar in the front & stiffer springs in the rear. If we were to run stiffersprings in the front, we would reduce our precious front end travel that is key to the lower CG, better downforce & other performance benefits from a high travel suspension strategy. If we were to run a stiffer sway bar in the rear, instead of stiffer springs, we would simply bepicking the inside rear tire off the ground when cornering. This happens if the rear sway bar rate gets close to the spring rate. So larger bar in the front & stiffer springs in the rear it is. With stiff rear spring rates, the spring can come out of its cup in some circumstances. Thatwould cause the spring to ride on the coil-over shock threads & eat them up. Bad. Solution?Take-Up Springs & Dividers on the Rear Shocks. So, we include them in RSRT packages thatwill use stiffer rear springs. If you wait, all that happens is that you get older.399'
