b'Front Sway BarsSway Bar techThis Tech Tip is CRITICAL: You ALWAYS need 1/8 of clearance gap in-between the sway bar arms and the bushing on EACH SIDE!Always!(Total of 1/4")A lot of folks dont think about this, but the sway bar SHORTENS up when it is twisted. If you have no gap, or not enough gap, the sway bar assembly will bind up & your car will have zero grip.None.Nadda. Zilch.I have had SEVERAL clients think that gap was slop and therefore bad. So they built their sway bar assemblies with no gap.One client broke the front control arms from suspension bind. The other client almostCorrect Gap went off the track from zero grip roll. = GOOD!On pillow block mounts like ours, UNLESS you mount them at the perfect width to provide the 1/8 gap on each side (1/4 total)youll need to run sway bar clamps next to the monoballs. It does not matter if the sway bar clamps are ionside or outside the pillow block bushing. But ALWAYS leave 1/8 gap on each side (1/4 total) No Gap No Gap= BAD! = BAD!104'
