The standard nut on a GT or GTR front spindle hub is a 1-1/4” Hex castle nut, like most spindle nuts. But there is an upgrade spindle nut & washer assembly that allows you to NAIL the bearing preload exactly. Not just whatever it is between this slot & that slot of the castle nut. They’re kinda spendy, but it’s the best way to achieve optimum bearing preload for low drag, low heat & low rolling resistance, without any wheel slop. One side of the black socket is football shaped to match the special spindle nut shown. The back side is a big hex socket for Speedway Engineering Mod-Lite Hub nuts. We have another version that is red that has the football shaped spindle nut socket on one side & 4 steel pins & special shaping on the other side for Speedway Engineering Grand National hub nuts.
